(原文:英語) HI everyone!!! I hope you are having a wonderful autumn-filled October!! This is always one of my favorite times of the year, especially in Japan. I miss nashi so bad!!!! One of the best fruit EVER!! :)
Well, I have been very busy here in Los Angeles. After the Emmys, I had to go to Portland, OR to meet with the people in charge of a new anime convention there. They have invited me to their con at the end of the year, so it looks like I will be spending Christmas in Portland with family! :)
It is ALSO a very busy time for Hollywood and Los Angeles, with the Awards Season just around the corner. and of course the FIRST Awards Ceremony coming up is the Golden Globes. And YES, I will be there reporting for Japanese television, so more on that when it is closer to the date!!
Now many of you may be thinking "hmmm, I can't even think of any films that are good enough to be nominated for the Golden Globes or Academy Awards.." Well, that's because MOST of the films are still getting ready to be released here in the US! Just to give you a teaser of some of the movies you will definitely be hearing about come awards season...one of the forerunners this year seems to be the latest project for Ben Affleck,"Argo", in which he directs and acts, and is based on a true story about a secret operation executed by the CIA to save 6 Americans held hostage in Iran. The movie also features Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman and has received a lot of kudos throughout its time in the film festival circuit. Now this film JUST started showing here in the U.S., and I know is just getting released in Japan this week. Film critics are saying that this movie COULD walk away with Best Original Screenplay, as well as Best Film, and possibly a Best Director nomination for Ben Affleck. So movie lovers, you will DEFINITELY want to see this one!
Another film that is getting a lot of momentum into awards season is "Sliver LInings Playbook" which has an incredible cast of Robert DeNiro as well as Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. This movie is the latest movie for award-winning director, David O Russell, the same man behind "The Fighter". The story behind this movie is a former teacher (the main character is played by Bradley Cooper) leaves a short stay in a mental institution, to come and live with his parents. At the same time he is trying to reconcile with his ex-wife, but he happens to meet a very intriguing woman who seems to have many problems of her own (played by Jennifer Lawrence) This film is based on and first premiered in Sept at the Toronto Film Festival to much praise, and many people I have talked to say that this is going to be the much-loved "underdog" film this awards season. Next month I will talk about a few more that I think will be contenders, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, I want to tell you about a new television show that I am co-hosting with well-known Japanese film critic, Mr. Mirai Konishi. From October, we started doing a mini-program called "AXN Japan Buzz+" where we talk about upcoming films, etc. We just filmed our last two segments at The Lot, which is a very old historical studio lot in West Hollywood. Movies such as "The Green Mile" And "Social Network" were filmed there. And currently the hit television series "True Blood" is being filmed there as well.
Anyway, if you get a chance to check us out, please do!!! Until next week...bye bye!!
