(原文) HI everyone!!! SO...did you get to watch the biggest event in Hollywood, the Academy Awards??? If so, what did you think? Honestly in my opnion I thought that Billy Crystal did a great job of coming back to host it. I thought he had enough "on edge" humor to make it a bit scandalous, and he did a great job of keeping things going. However the rest of the show...hmmm...a bit boring!! At least to me. There were really not that many surprises. "The Artist" took Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, and in all took five awards. This is quite a feat because the last time a silent film earned the top prize at the Academy Awards was when the World War 1 film "Wings" was named Best Picture in 1929. Octavia Spencer, who has won "Best Supporting Actress" (for her role in "The Help")at almost every ceremony, won again at the Academy Awards. And Christopher Plummer, who has also been consistently winning for "Best Supporting Actor"(for his role in "The Beginners") also won on Oscar night. However many people were a bit surprised that Viola Davis didn't win Best Actress. Many were favoring her to beat Meryl Streep for the Golden Statue. But Hollywood's Golden Girl, Meryl Streep, walked away victorious. It's funny because so many people think that Meryl Streep has a room full of Oscar statues at home, but in reality, this was only here THIRD win. Sure, she has been nominated SEVENTEEN times (a record number of nominations for ANY actor/actress), but the last time that she actually won was in 1984 for her role in the film "Sophie's Choice". Until Now.
And I know that she felt somewhat guilty about winning this year, because in her acceptance speech, she told the press that she read all the predictions online, and in social media sites, etc. and most of the stuff that she read said that actress Viola Davis would win "Best Actress". So when she accepted the award, she apologized to the audience, saying "I know that I made half of America mad by winning this...." Honestly, though, I didn't find much excitement in the ceremony. And it seems that I was not alone. In fact, for the first time this year, the ratings for the Grammys BEAT OUT the Academy Awards. There were about 39.3 million viewers of the Academy Awards this year, whereas two weeks ago the Grammys had 39.9 million viewers.
Probably the strangest (and yet maybe the most exciting) part of the night was when actress Angelina Jolie's right leg got it's own twitter page!! Angelina wore a long black dress with a slit all the way to her waist, showing her right leg. And so when she was posing for pictures on the red carpet before the ceremony, the internet lit up, talking about her sexy leg shots....which led to someone creating a twitter page for her right leg!!! Then during the ceremony, when Angelina Jolie went up to present two awards, she made a pose again showing her leg. Was this because she KNEW that people were talking about her right leg??? Who knows. But I loved it when a group of guys came up to receive their award after Angelina Jolie was done, and they pretended to pose exactly like Angelina. SO...what was your favorite part of the ceremony?
