Michael Jackson 2 yr anniversary... Well, readers, can you believe it has now been two years since the King of Pop Music, Michael Jackson passed away?? I am sure that many of you still remember that day, June 25, 2009 (US TIME) very well. I know I DO. Well, it is now a few days past the 2 yr anniversary. And there were quite a few things planned to pay tribute to the special day.
One of them is that helicopter company "Channel Islands" offered fans an opportunity to take a 30 min helicopter tour over Neverland Ranch over the weekend of the 2 yr anniversary. Tickets for the 30 min ride cost $175/per person, and if you paid a little extra ($10) you could also be given either a rose or sunflower to throw out the window of the helicopter, along with your own private message, ofcourse.
The world famous Madame Tussauds also paid tribute to the pop icon by opening a limited edition multi-media exhibition on June 20th dedicated to Michael Jackson. The exhibition which is called "The Michael Jackson Experience", features 3 statues (each costing about $300,000 to make), one from the Jackson Five days, one from the "Invincible" era, and one from the "THIS IS IT" era. This is the first time for Madame Tussauds to do a multi-media exhibition, and is actually a pretty big deal. Jermaine Jackson, Mcihael's older brother, was on hand for the opening ceremony of the exhibition and did the tape cut. The exhibition will be in Hollywood Madame Tussauds first, before traveling throughout the US until the first week of Sept. So if you get a chance to come to the US during the summer, that might be something worth doing! Meanwhile, Jermaine Jackson also took the time to announce to the media at the opening ceremony that there was a Jackson 5 reunion tour in the works!!! WOW!
Also, on Monday (6/27) the famous red and black leather jacket that Michael Jackson wore in his music video "Thriller" was bought by an Austin, Texas business man for $1.8 million!!! When Milton Verret was asked what he was going to do with his newly acquired MJ jacket, he told the press that he plans on sending the jacket on tour to help raise funds for children's charities. All I have to say about that is..Mr. Verret, Michael would have been VERY PROUD! MJ WAS, after all, always thinking about the children and raising money for them, wasn't he???
Also Michael Jackson's Las Vegas estate, a place where the popstar spent many of his latter years, was open to the public for FOUR hours on the day of his death. This was the first time for fans to ever have the opportunity to be able to walk around the home.
Something else that was quite interesting... the man that dominated the pop charts for many years, was once more on the dance charts with his NEW SINGLE "Hollywood Tonight" jumped into the TOP TEN of the dance charts last week as well! It held on to the #8 position last week and continues to stay in the TOP TEN. Meanwhile, the trial dealing with Michael Jackson's death will finally be starting in September. I am sure for the Jackson family and Michael Jackson fans worldwide it couldn't come sooner. Michael Jackson, we miss you. And hope that you are looking down on us and smiling.
